Meeting Details

20 October 06:30 – 09:30 UTC/GMT | Online | 3-Hour Interactive Session

This Micro-course is designed to help health insurance professionals to understand the logic, language and impact of actuarial work; regardless of if they have a technical background or not. You’ll finish the course with practical insights into how actuarial models drives decision making and how you and  your team can engage more effectively with actuarial processes.

Led by Andrew Matthews, Principal at Finity Consulting and Appointed Actuary to several Australian health insurers, this intensive and highly interactive session introduces participants to the core principles of actuarial science and how they influence pricing, risk evaluation, reserves, and organisational strategy. It emphasises practical understanding and collaboration over mathematical detail.

What to Expect

A fast-paced, interactive 3-hour session combining expert insight with practical frameworks and real business contexts.

By the end of the Micro-course, participants will:

  • Understand core actuarial concepts such as risk, expected value and pooling
  • See how assumptions, data and models shape pricing and financial decisions
  • Learn how different departments influence and support actuarial work
  • Build confidence engaging with actuaries, models and decision logic; even without a technical background
