Southern Cross Health Society (“Southern Cross”) is a not-for-profit friendly society which exists to “empower its members to live well for longer”. Its core business is providing health insurance for its more than 940,000 members. Southern Cross also provides pet insurance, travel insurance and life insurance to New Zealanders via its subsidiaries. The Society shares a master brand with its strategic partner Southern Cross HealthCare who, among other things, own the Southern Cross hospital network across New Zealand and a range of wellness services.
The Role: Reporting to the Southern Cross CEO, the Chief People & Strategy Officer (CPSO) is responsible for developing and leading a healthy, high-performance culture across Southern Cross. Leading a team of 50 through four direct reports, the CPSO’s portfolio covers strategic planning & execution, organisational transformation, people and wellbeing, internal communications, and workplace.
The CPSO will be responsible for continuing to embed the Society’s strategic plan from a people and business planning lens. They will operate as an advisor and partner to the Board and Executive. Under the new agile methodology, the CPSO will proactively monitor business performance. They will ensure robust, future-focused business and structural plans are in place, while contributing strategically to the organisation’s broader goals.
