Annual Review 2025
Collaboration. Innovation. Shared Purpose.
Welcome from the Chair
Bernard Lord
Medavie Blue Cross
and Chair, International Federation of
Health Plans

As iFHP approaches the 60th anniversary of its first international conference, it’s remarkable to see how far the Federation has come, and how powerfully our global community continues to evolve. The world of health insurance is changing fast. Costs and demographics are shifting, technology is transforming the way care is delivered and expectations are rising. Across these pressures, one thing is constant: the need for collaboration, innovation and shared purpose. That’s exactly what iFHP helps provide. Over the past five years, we’ve worked hard to contemporise the Federation, expanding our horizons, deepening engagement and re energising our programme for a new generation of leaders. The 2025 CEO Forum in Singapore captured this perfectly: open, practical and bold in reimagining how policy, technology and partnership can transform health systems globally. As we prepare to mark six decades since our founding, iFHP is now more connected, more global and more ambitious than ever, ready to shape the future architectures of health for people and communities worldwide. As we look to the next decade, we do so on strong foundations. We are finalising Strategy 2030, the next phase of a ten year journey that builds on the renewal of recent years and positions us to lead with relevance, agility and impact. For me personally, 2026 will mark my final year as Chair, and I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come. iFHP today is vibrant, connected and forward-looking, ready to help shape the next era of health insurance, one defined not by legacy systems, but by the new architectures of health. Above all, I’m inspired by the collective power of our members to drive better health and wellbeing around the world.

CEO Introduction
Christopher Watney
CEO, iFHP

2025 has been a year of real momentum for iFHP. Our community continues to grow in reach and purpose, with members around the world showing the commitment to collaboration and shared learning that makes this Federation unique. Our work with members has expanded in both scope and impact. We launched two new Member Networks – in AI & New Technology and Indigenous Health – broadening our conversations and enriching the perspectives shaping our agenda. Our research and comparative analysis work continues to grow, giving members new ways to benchmark performance and share insights across markets. And with new courses, meetings and policy briefings, our relevance to members has never been stronger. Most encouragingly, member satisfaction is at its highest level in years, reflecting renewed energy and a clear sense of value across the Federation. We also welcomed new members from the United States, UK, India, Australia and Armenia, and deepened relationships with key partners. The CEO Forum in Singapore, our Executive Development Programme and a dynamic portfolio of insights-led content, from podcasts to research briefings, have all reinforced iFHP’s role as a global hub for knowledge and leadership. As iFHP moves into the next phase of its ten-year strategy, I want to thank you, our members, for your commitment and shared purpose that define this community. I’m equally grateful to Bernard Lord, whose leadership as Chair since 2021 has strengthened the Federation and set the stage for what comes next. I look forward to working with our new Chair and the Council of Management as we continue to evolve and grow your Federation.
